What is a Voluptuary

So what is a Voluptuary? We are those who enjoy our natural senses and the simple pleasures of life. Modern society is full of stresses, distractions and dystopian oddities that take us away from our natural state. I believe in the transformative joy of eating and drinking, in their ability to revive a feeling of wonder at nature and existence, that clear-eyed playfulness we had when we were young.

According to the google, a Voluptuary is:

vo·lup·tu·ar·y

/vəˈləp(t)SHəˌwerē/

noun

  1. a person devoted to luxury and sensual pleasure.

I am re-interpreting this antiquated word to take on a slight nuance of meaning: A Voluptuary is one devoted to the natural sensuous pleasures of existence. The foods a Voluptuary eats, the wine she sips, the sensuous touch, all of these things are natural and simple, from the Earth and nature and our relationship with nature. Therefore, a Voluptuary is one devoted to nature and it’s glorious creations which we reverently enjoy.

I ask that, amidst laughter and revelry, you pour one for a friend, pour some out for Mother Nature, and enjoy the simple pleasures together.
